I have been a Dental Assistant for almost 3 years now and I love it! I went from having a boring 9-5 desk job to working at a restaurant. I enjoyed communicating with people and having a job on my feet. However, it just was not something I saw myself doing long term and it was not very stable. My Nana who was previously a nurse told me I should try looking into the medical profession. I knew I did not want to be a nurse and I also looked at being a lab technician; however, there was no room for growth in that position. After looking online I ended up finding a Dental Assistant program. I went for a meeting to see what dental assisting was about and knew it was something I would like. I get to meet and talk to new patients and help with treatment. Each day is different and you are constantly learning from each case or patient. There is lots of room for career growth and many different specialties you can go into. I work with an amazing group of people and can honestly say I enjoy coming to work every day.
